Sony's Concord Faces Early Demise
Sony's latest PlayStation game, Concord, is shutting down on September 6th after a disappointing launch. The hero shooter, released on August 23rd, failed to attract players despite eight years of development.
We have decided to take the game offline beginning September 6, 2024, and explore options, including those that will better reach our players.
- Game sold fewer than 25,000 copies
- Peak of only 697 players on Steam
- Full refunds offered to all purchasers
- Possible return as free-to-play model
The $40 game struggled to compete with free-to-play alternatives like Overwatch and Valorant. Sony is now considering new strategies, including a potential shift to a free-to-play model.
